Rabat – The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) is obstructing a critical lifeline for Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, where the lives of hundreds hang in the balance without access to basic necessities.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Rafah Hani Mahmoud reported today that Israeli forces halted two trucks carrying essential medical supplies and fuel, dispatched by the World Health Organization (WHO) to Nasser Hospital.

“For almost 10 hours now, there’s been two trucks filled with medical supplies outside of Nasser Hospital. They’re also carrying much-needed fuel for generators to provide power to the besieged health facility,” Mahmoud said.

The trucks have been immobilized by Israeli tanks and bulldozers, stationed just 50 meters from the hospital’s entrance.

Mahmoud warned that the IOF actions threaten the lives of hundreds of people trapped inside the medical facility, including babies in incubators and patients in the intensive care unit.

After days of siege and attacks, the IOF stormed the Nasser hospital on Thursday, causing chaos and leaving dozens wounded.

Patients, medical staff, and displaced individuals were ordered to evacuate early Thursday morning, before Israeli soldiers stormed the medical facility.

The Israeli assault targeted critical areas of the hospital, including the maternity ward, orthopedics unit, and emergency room.

This has rendered the hospital, which is the largest remaining health facility in southern Gaza, completely out of service.

Medical staff were rounded up, and doctors were prevented from treating the wounded.

The IOF alleged, without evidence, that Hamas was using the hospital for operations and as a location to keep hostages, a claim refuted by Gaza’s Health Ministry, which condemned the attack and highlighted the danger to intensive care patients.

The Israeli army has repeatedly claimed that Hamas operates within Gaza’s medical facilities in order to justify its merciless bombing of hospitals amid its bloody war on innocent Palestinians.
