Rabat – The situation at Nasser Hospital in Gaza’s Khan Younis has escalated dramatically over the past 24 hours.
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have tightened their grip around the hospital, forcing displaced individuals seeking refuge inside to evacuate immediately.
Guillemette Thomas, the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) medical coordinator for Palestine, described the atmosphere at the hospital as “scary.” She emphasized the critical condition of approximately 400 patients within the facility against the backdrop of an already severe shortage of medical staff and supplies.
Footage obtained by Al Jazeera Arabic showed scenes of displaced Palestinians vacating the Nasser Medical Complex, following orders from IOF.
Reports emerged of Israeli snipers claiming three lives outside the hospital, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza. In addition, at least 10 individuals sustained injuries within the besieged medical compound in Khan Younis.
MSF highlighted the profound fear gripping those seeking refuge at Nasser Hospital, as individuals risk being shot while attempting to leave.
The IOF’s actions extended to firing upon individuals within the hospital premises, including medical personnel.
IOF officials allege that Hamas members are using the medical facility for military activities—a claim vehemently denied by Hamas. The IOF has long been using these allegations to justify its merciless bombing of hospitals in Gaza.
In a recent development, the IOF issued an order for the evacuation of Nasser Hospital, affecting approximately 300 medical staff, 450 patients, and numerous displaced Palestinians.
The northern gate of the hospital was destroyed and barricaded with debris, leaving only the eastern gate accessible. Tanks and armored vehicles now occupy positions in front of the eastern gate, while face-recognition cameras have been installed—a move signaling potential future raids and mass arrests, according to local observers.
