GIZ representatives offer expertise at Rabat Networking Days
Open in Rabat since 1999, the agency was one of the contributors to the Rabat Networking Days (RND) event, an initiative organized by Morocco World News (MWN), which took place on February 1-2.

The participating students at the RND event
The event was an opportunity for Moroccan students, most of whom are set to graduate by the end of the current academic year, to convene with experts of various specialties to offer them a glimpse on what the job market is like.
In this context, a number of issues that Morocco is now facing were discussed.
In relation to the geopolitical crises that are taking place in the Middle East, Morocco has remained a relatively calm actor in the MENA region.
However, the country continues to struggle with persistent poverty, which is a reality for about a quarter of the population, particularly in rural regions, based on data GIZ provided about Morocco.

Panel discussion between the GIZ members and the students
Another issue noted was the vast disparity in development between rural and urban regions. Significant obstacles remain in the form of a large budget deficit, rising unemployment, and inadequate vocational training.
Water shortage was also noted as a pressing challenge that faces the country, as resources to alleviate this hardship are scarce due to climate change.
There were also noted obstacles in the way of achieving sustainable economic development, in regards to enforcing regulations pertaining to renewable energies and protecting the environment and natural resources.

Morocco-Germany
At the end of this session at RND, there was an open discussion in which students offered comments and questions about e Morocco-Germany future prospects in regards to building solutions to the challenges discussed. Presenters noted that they were impressed by their level of perception and insight.
At the conclusion of the visit, the agency kindly opened its doors for the students who might be interested in applying for an internship program in the future within the agency.
