Rabat – Abdellatif Hammouchi, the director of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) has been holding a series of bilateral talks with senior officials in Saudi Arabia.

The event served as a platform for discussion between Hammouchi and senior Saudi officials, converging reports said.

Hammouchi’s visit followed an invitation from Lieutenant General Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-howairini, the head of the Saudi State Security.

During the visit, Hammouchi and senior officials from Saudi security services discussed means to develop and boost security cooperation, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

Hammouci’s visit comes amid the World Defense Show, an event seeking to showcase the future of defense through technological developments from around the globe.

Reports said Hammouchi has explored various venues of the defense show during his visit to Saudi Arabia.

Morocco’s security sector has been undergoing significant development, garnering interest from international partners who have been emphasizing eagerness to learn from the North African country’s expertise.

Saudi Arabia and Morocco, which share a good foundation, have frequently emphasized eagerness to boost bilateral ties and cooperation at all levels.

The Gulf country is also part of the countries that support Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara.

In January, the Saudi Royal Court issued an urgent directive, instructing its government bodies not to use the name “Western Sahara” when referring to Morocco’s southern provinces.

The decree also prohibited the use of a divided map of Morocco.
