Morocco and Argentina Hold Talks in Buenos Aires on Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Rabat – Moroccan Ambassador to Argentina Fares Yassir discussed on Wednesday in Buenos Aires, ways to strengthen bilateral relations with a view to raising them to the highest level in all areas with Argentina Minister of Foreign Affairs Diana Mondino. Morocco and Argentina both aim to achieve growth and prosperity and seek to establish peace and good relations with the countries of the world, underlined the head of Argentine diplomacy.

For his part, the Moroccan ambassador affirmed that the Kingdom presents itself as a “reliable” partner, highlighting its unique position in Africa, thanks to a strong political and economic presence in most countries on the continent.

The two countries are called upon to strengthen their political dialogue, especially since Morocco aspires to make Argentina a “main partner” in Latin America, he stressed. Ambassador Yassir added that the expected strategic relations pass mainly through the strengthening of economic cooperation and the consolidation of political dialogue.

The ambassador welcomed the concordance of views between Morocco and Argentina on several subjects of common interest, while welcoming the reciprocal support during international events, parliamentary forums and meetings dedicated to human rights.

He highlighted the excellence of bilateral relations, noting that Argentina “can count on Morocco to access Africa”, where the country has a strong presence through investments, banks, and airlines, in addition to its extensive network of embassies in all regions of the continent.

It is noteworthy that last year Morocco was the main supplier of fertilizers to Argentina, ensuring coverage of the needs of the local market to the tune of 49%, he noted, calling for the establishment of a strategic partnership in this area.

In addition to the prospects for cooperation in agriculture, trade, tourism, technology and renewable energies, the diplomat stressed that the two countries can also strengthen their cooperation in the field of migration management, overfishing and contraband.
