Rabat – Morocco’s women national football team won their first leg match today against Tunisia 2-1, as part of the third day of the 2024 Olympic Games qualifications.

The two North African teams convened at the Soliman stadium in Tunisia.

In the 44th minute, Moroccan midfielder Fatima Zahra Tagnaout opened the scoring from a free kick, with a stunning shot that landed directly in Tunisia’s goal.

Seven minutes after the start of the second half, however, the Tunisian team managed to tie the score with a goal similar to that of Morocco from a free kick as well.

Nevertheless, in less than a minute, Morocco imposed its presence to lead the game with a second goal sealed by forward Ghizlane Chebbak.

This victory will allow the Atlas Lionesses to look forward to winning the return leg on their home soil, which will build their confidence. The return leg is scheduled on February 28 at the Prince Moulay El Hassan stadium in Rabat.

The upcoming Olympic Games is set to be held in the capital city of France, Paris. The website Schengen Visa Info has recently provided Morocco World News (MWN) with statistics that experts estimate 16 million people will go to France to attend the Olympic Games.

It is also anticipated that attendees of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris would spend more than €8.3 billion (more than MAD 90 billion) throughout the course of the 17-day international competition.

According to the website, tickets for the Olympics will cost between €24 (MAD 260) and €990 (MAD 1 million), excluding the ceremony.
