Rabat- King Mohammed VI laid today the foundation stone for a Neighborhood Medical Center- Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, inaugurating the second phase of the Connected Mobile Medical Units- Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity in the Lissasfa district, in the Hay Hassani district prefecture (Casablanca).
These two initiatives underscore the monarch’s commitment to improve national healthcare services, advancing medical care for citizens, reinforcing primary healthcare facilities, and easing access to quality basic healthcare, especially for rural communities.
These projects also seek to guarantee regular medical check-ups for individuals in need of specialized consultations.
Backed by an investment of 90 million dirhams, the forthcoming Lissasfa Neighborhood Medical Center marks the third of its kind in the Casablanca-Settat region, succeeding similar centers in the Sidi Moumen district and the newly established city Errahma.
This initiative forms an integral component of an overarching strategy spearheaded by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity to bolster the national healthcare sector, with a specific focus on improving healthcare accessibility in densely populated urban areas.
Functioning as an intermediary facility between primary healthcare centers and hospitals, the forthcoming Center, anticipated to serve almost 60,000 individuals annually, is poised to relieve strain on current hospital infrastructure in the area and minimize the necessity for extensive travel to obtain medical treatment.
This nearby Medical Center will be constructed within a 24-month timeframe on an 11,170 square meter plot (with 7,692 square meters covered). It will include units for outpatient consultations and functional explorations, functional rehabilitation, dental care, and local medical emergencies.
The center will include primary healthcare units, radiology, obstetrics, and sterilization facilities, as well as an operating theater, a medical laboratory, a hospitalization ward (with 13 double rooms), a pharmacy, and a kitchen.
The result of a collaboration between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, this initiative is part of a broader program envisioned by the Foundation. Ultimately, it aims to establish twelve Neighborhood Medical Centers: three in Casablanca, two in Fès, two in Tangier, and one center each in Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat, Salé, and Témara.
