Rabat – Moroccan singer Abdou Cherif has died today due to a heart attack.
The renowned singer was taken to a hospital the morning after suffering health complications and was confirmed dead in Casablanca.
Cherif is known for his beautiful voice and for performing renowned songs of Egyptian iconic legend Abdel Halim Hafiz.
The singer was scheduled to perform a concert this evening at the Megarama Theater in Casablanca tonight.
Several artists took to social media to mourn the death of Cherif, including iconic singer Latifa Rafat.
“You were indeed a true friend, a true brother, and a true support. We were supported to meet today at your concert in Casablanca, but we do not object to the will of Allah,” the Rafat posted.
She also extended her heartfelt condolences to the family of the singer.
The news comes a few weeks following the death of Omar Cherif, another talented and most celebrated singer in Morocco.
The singer was found dead in his home in Casablanca. Converging reports said Omar also died of heart complications.
