Diaz’ call to the national team was welcomed by Moroccan football fans, who have long considered he would be a valuable asset to the Atlas Lions.
The new squad lineup from coach Regragui featured another newcomer —Eliesse Ben Seghir of AS Monaco.
Like Diaz, Seghir also made a switch in their sport nationality and will join the national team for upcoming friendlies.
The squad also features Soufiane Rahimi, whose impressive performances with Emirati club Al Ain convinced Regragui to recall him. However, captain of the national team Romain Saiss is absent from the list.
The Atlas Lions’ friendly matches come on the heels of the upcoming qualifiers and international tournaments.
The first match will be against Angola on March 22nd, followed by a fixture with Mauritania on March 26th. Both matches will take place in Agadir.
