Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned extremist incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque, which was stormed by extremist Jewish settlers today.
In a statement, the expressed its “strong condemnation of the incursion into the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqssa mosque by some extremists and their followers and their engaging in provocative practices that violate its sanctity.”
The statement also reiterated Morocco’s rejection of any measures that undermine the legal and historical status of the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, including the Al Aqsa Mosque.
In addition, the Moroccan ministry condemned any acts seeking to impose restrictions on the entry of worshippers into it, emphasizing the need to preserve East Jerusalem’s civilizational and Islamic character and to avoid all forms of escalation and provocation.
The ministry also renewed its support for the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to Palestinian authorities, at least 1,679 Israeli settlers forced their way into the Al Aqsa Mosque complex on Thursday to celebrate the Jewish Passover holiday.
Authorities said the incursion took place under “strict measures and restrictions on the entry of Muslim worshippers by the occupation police.”
The provocative move comes amid a fragile situation as Israeli Occupation Forces continue their merciless campaign targeting civilians in Gaza.
Since October 7, Israeli forces have killed over 34,305 civilians and wounded over 77,293.
In the past 24 hours alone, IOF killed at least 43 people in Gaza.
Women and children have borne the brunt of Israel’s merciless Gaza campaign, Gaza, with reports indicating that Israel has killed over 14,500 children and 9,500 women in Gaza since October 7.
