Rabat – Qatar is currently hosting an exhibition showcasing Morocco’s Amazigh heritage at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.
The collection, which features the Royal Palace Berber Jewelry, has garnered significant attention from visitors, said the organizers of the exhibition in a press release.
Organized as part of the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024, the exhibition offered insight into Moroccan historical and artistic richness, with attendees expressing admiration for the craftsmanship on display.
Running until May 20, the exhibition marks the first time the Royal Palace Amazigh Jewelry Collection has been displayed outside of Morocco.
The exhibition was organized by the National Museum Foundation of Morocco in collaboration with the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.
Visitors have the opportunity to explore 200 jewelry pieces representing diverse regions and ethnic groups within Morocco.
“This collection, which fills Moroccans in Qatar with pride, comprises 200 pieces of historical and cultural significance, representing various regions and ethnic groups of Morocco, from the Atlas Mountains to the Southern provinces,” said Adel El Fakir, Director-General of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT).
The event is being coordinated by El Fakir, who is also the General Commissioner of the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024.
In addition to the jewelry collection, the exhibition offers a comprehensive cultural experience, featuring traditional Moroccan music performances, henna tattoo demonstrations, and an oil painting inspired by the beauty of Amazigh jewelry, added the statement.
It noted that the exhibition highlights the deep historical and cultural ties between Morocco and Qatar, as well as fosters mutual understanding and appreciation.
