Rabat – The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has reiterated its position against US support for the Israeli brutal war against civilians in Gaza.

CAIR’s statement came in response to comments made by Defense Secretary Llyod Austin, who denied Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza.

“We strongly condemn Secretary Austin for his dishonest and delusional genocide denial, which completely ignores the fact that the Israeli government made racist genocidal threats at the start of this war,” CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said on Tuesday.

The council’s executive also condemned Israel’s brutal war that has to date caused a devastating humanitarian crisis, which includes famine, stressing that Biden’s administration should be ashamed for making the US complicit in Gaza’s genocide.

The US has been sparking outrage for its controversial position of strong support towards Israel during the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) brutal war on Gaza.

The country has been using its veto power at the United Nations to reject all ceasefire resolutions aimed at putting an end to the devastating situation in Gaza. The US only finally abstained on one resolution passed by the UN this past month, but Israel has not let up their merciless aggression.

Biden has also faced international pressure and criticism, for announcing that the US is doing everything it can to support aid for Gazans while continuing to supply arms to Israel.

According to the Guardian, the US remains the biggest supplier to Israel, contributing an estimated 68% of Israel’s foreign-sourced weapons, the Guardian added.

According to the same source, Biden has so far “balked at conditioning weapons supplies on future Israeli behaviour – a step now advocated by some fellow Democrats.”

The news outlet stressed on Tuesday that the US reluctance comes amid appeals calling for an immediate ceasefire and warnings about the imminent loss of American support for Biden as he is up for reelection come November.

Immediate intervention is needed now more that ever in Gaza, where the death toll is rising and has reached over 33,300 civilians, while over 76,000 have been injured.
