Rabat – Morocco’s permanent representative at the UN reiterated the country’s demand for a sustainable ceasefire for the war-torn Gaza.

Omar Hilale made his remarks during a meeting of the UN General Assembly on the use of the veto on Monday, recalling Morocco’s rejection and condemnation of excesses, politics of collective punishment, and forced displacement.

Emphasizing the need to protect civilians and humanitarian workers, Hilale also reiterated Morocco’s rejection of all attempts to impose a “new reality on the ground,” affirming that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territories and the unified State of Palestine.

He also conveyed Morocco’s opposition to Israel’s invasion of Palestinian territories, describing as unacceptable all acts that threaten to expand military operations in the entire Gaza, including Rafah.

Gaza has faced a brutal war launched by Israeli Occupation Forces since October 7. The aggression has to date killed over 33,2000 people while at least 76,0000 others have been injured.

Over 7,000 areas under the rubble or missing, presumed dead.

In addition to flattening entire neighborhoods in Gaza, Israel has recklessly blocked the entry of humanitarian aid into the devastating Palestinian enclave.

Morocco is among the countries that have contributed the most to the humanitarian aid initiative in Gaza, seeking to mitigate the famine crisis in the region.

The North African kingdom was the first country to deliver unprecedented humanitarian aid by land to Gaza, Hilale recalled, noting that the aid ordered by King Mohammed VI consisted of more than 40 tons of foodstuffs.

The latest official figures from the health ministry in Gaza indicate that Israeli occupation forces killed 153 people in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 33,360 and the number of injured to 75,993.
