Rabat – More than 32,916 people have perished in Israel’s ruthless war on Gaza since October 7 last year, and recent developments suggest the Israeli Occupation Forces will continue to carry out merciless attacks in Gaza amid the glaring absence of a forceful global consensus to end the suffering of Gazans.
The latest data from the Gaza-based Palestinian Health Ministry show that the number of injured victims of Israeli aggression is also alarmingly increasing, with 75,494 confirmed as wounded since October 7 of last year.
In the past 24 hours, the occupation forces killed over 71 victims in their latest relentless campaign, while more victims remain under the rubble.
According to the Palestinian ministry, scores of unidentified victims of Israel’s indiscriminate assault on Gaza’s residential neighborhoods remain trapped under the rubble in areas where ambulances cannot reach.
Even UN humanitarian aid workers have been targeted in Israel’s devastating war on Gaza, with UNICEF recently deploring the killing of several aid workers by Israeli forces.
Last night, Israel hit and killed a convoy of aid workers who were attempting to get food to people suffering from famine in Gaza.
“It’s an immense tragedy and adds to the total of more than 30,000 people killed during the war, including 174 UN colleagues. So it’s a dark day for us here,” UNICEF’s spokeswoman Tess Ingram told Al Jazeera after news emerged of the killing of the humanitarian workers.
The UNICEF spokeswoman also lamented the absence of security assurances aid workers need, saying: “It’s even worse that these people were killed just trying to deliver food to people on the precipice of famine. It’s an unspeakable loss.”
Many countries, including China and Egypt, have slammed Israel in the aftermath of the attack that killed the UN aid workers.
China denounced the indiscriminate aggression in a statement, expressing the shocking nature of the lethal targeting of a humanitarian convoy and noting that it opposes all acts of unprovoked violence that kill civilians, harm civilian infrastructure, and flagrantly violate international law.
Egypt, meanwhile, has described the targeting of the humanitarian convoy as a “blatant” violation of international law, and called for an investigation into the killing of the aid workers.
