Rabat – Morocco’s international Hakim Ziyech and his team Galatasaray clinched the championship title with a commanding 3-1 victory over Konyaspor in the 2023-2024 Turkish League season.
The triumph in the 38th and final round cemented Galatasaray’s dominance, marking their 24th league title in the club’s history.
Ziyech joined Galatasaray on loan from Chelsea last summer. Since becoming part of the Turkish team, he has been a standout player for the Istanbul Lions throughout the season.
His loan deal includes a purchase clause, which may see him permanently move to the Galatasary despite his Chelsea contract running until June 2025.
Galatasaray’s win followed a fierce battle, particularly with their traditional rivals, Fenerbahce.
The competition remained tight until the final match, but Galatasaray’s victory ensured they topped the league with 102 points, just three points ahead of Fenerbahce.
Although Ziyech was suspended for the final match due to an accumulation of yellow cards, his contributions over the season were pivotal.
The Moroccan star participated in 18 league matches, netting six goals and providing three assists. Across all competitions, he was featured in 23 games, scoring eight goals and assisting in four.
The latest triumph adds to Ziyech’s impressive collection of titles, bringing his career total to eight.
Prior to his win with Galatasaray, he won the Dutch League, Dutch Cup, and Dutch Super Cup with Ajax. He also garnered three major titles with Chelsea, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
With the Galatasaray victory, the acclaimed Atlas Lion has now added the Turkish League and Turkish Super Cup to his accolades.
Ziyech is expected to rejoin the Moroccan national team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches in June, under coach Walid Regragui.
