Rabat – Canadian aerospace firm Shimco reaffirmed today its commitment to Morocco’s burgeoning aerospace industry as it convened with its Moroccan partners at the integrated industrial platform of Midparc near Casablanca.
The event, which celebrated the expansion of Shimco’s operations into Midpacr’s free zone of Nouaceur, saw notable speeches from key figures including Shimo CEO Peter Voss, Canadian Ambassador to Morocco Isabelle Valois, and President of Misparc Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi.

In his statement, Voss expressed pride in announcing Shimco’s establishment in Morocco. He emphasized that Morocco was the company’s top choice for expansion, citing strategic reasons such as cost-effectiveness and proximity to key markets.
“We had other opportunities in other countries, but Morocco was our best choice by far,” he said.
Voss highlighted the critical role of the Moroccan facility in Shimco’s growth plan and announced the company’s commitment to supplying high-quality aerospace parts from Morocco to customers worldwide.
The CEO also revealed that Shimco had already secured a contract for the Moroccan facility, with production set to begin by January 2025. The project will focus on parts for Airbus Helicopter and Airbus Atlantic, with aspirations to support other major aerospace companies such as Boeing, Safran, Pratt & Whitney, and Collins.
A Message of Confidence
Meanwhile, Ambassador Valois expressed a warm welcome to Shimco and emphasized the significance of their decision to establish operations in the North African country. “Your presence in Morocco will certainly help build a stronger relationship with Morocco,” she said.
She underlined that the Canadian company choosing to establish itself in Morocco and support its growth and development sends a “message of confidence from the Canadian industry towards Morocco.”
Valois also highlighted the “maturity” and growth of the Moroccan aerospace industry and economy, noting that Shimco joins several other Canadian companies recognizing Morocco’s potential and advantages.

Calling Morocco a “rapidly growing country,” the ambassador said: “I am convinced that Morocco is an attractive market for Canadian companies.”
Also speaking at the gathering, Midparc President Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi celebrated the establishment of Shimco in Morocco, noting the quality and professionalism of the company and its leaders.
He underlined the benefits of Morocco’s geographical position and its competitiveness in the aerospace sector. “We are creating a real aerospace bridge between the two countries, for our mutual benefit. This proves that Peter has understood that Morocco has now become an essential platform,” he said.

El Andaloussi also pointed out the rapid growth and evolution of the Moroccan aerospace industry, with nearly 145 aerospace companies operating in the country over the past 25 years. He highlighted the second phase of the industry’s development, focusing on quality, skill development, and greater inclusion of Moroccan women.

Shimco has recently received certification from Boeing to manufacture laminated metal and composite specifications. Labeled BMS7-335, the certification allows the company to supply laminated materials and fabricated parts to Boeing and its global supply chain.
This certification is set to enhance the company’s reputation and operational scope in the aerospace industry. According to Shimco, the certification effort began in 2021 and marks a significant achievement for the company’s facilities in both Canada and Morocco.
The company has committed to constructing a 1,300-square-meter production plant, with plans to double its capacity within the next three years and triple it within seven.
The certification came two months after Shimco signed an agreement with Midparc to facilitate its operations in the free zone of Nouaceur. The move aligns with Morocco’s efforts to attract high-tech industries and foster international partnerships in aerospace.
