Rabat- After dominating the African and Moroccan football in the 2021-2022 season, winning both the African Champions League and Botola Pro, Wydad Casablanca’s increasingly chaotic descent towards the Botola Pro low ranking following the damaging defeat by RS Berkane on Thursday night, losing 2-0, with Oussama Lamlioui scoring the two goals.
The club has changed coaches 12 times since Walid Regragui left for the Moroccan national team in August 2022, with 13 different head coaches in the recent 4 years.
The club also gave up on all the players who participated in the 2021-2022 historical achievement, which raises questions about the random administrative management.
With one match left before the end of the season, Wydad Casablanca is in sixth place with 43 points, after losing 6 consecutive matches, which is the longest series of defeats in the club’s history.
“The situation isn’t good right now. We need to focus more on our play and show some positive signs, even though the result is ultimately the most important thing. We’re also going through a difficult period in terms of results at the moment,” Adel Hermach, head coach of Wydad Casablanca, stated.
However, under mounting pressure from fans and club members, President Hicham Aït Menna and the entire executive board recently announced their collective resignation, paving the way for an Ordinary and Elective General Assembly scheduled for July 15.
