Rabat – Head of the Moroccan government, Aziz Akhannouch, has been engaging in diplomatic discussions with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid during the 33rd session of the Arab League Council summit in Manama.
The meetings are focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing key regional issues.
The discussions held today with the Lebanese PM were also joined by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.
The two prime ministers reviewed various issues of mutual interest. In addition, both emphasized the importance of activating bilateral cooperation mechanisms across multiple sectors.
Akhannouch particularly highlighted Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Lebanon, noting that Morocco has consistently supported Lebanon in its national causes.
The Lebanese delegation included Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan, Information Minister Ziad Makary, and Education Minister Abbas Halabi.
Akhannouch met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid on Wednesday. The meeting focused on the relations between Morocco and Iraq and exploring ways to further enhance cooperation across various fields.
Both parties expressed a desire to elevate their bilateral relations to meet the expectations of their respective leaders, according to MAP news agency.
Akhannouch arrived in Bahrain on Wednesday to represent King Mohammed VI at the summit. He was welcomed at Bahrain International Airport by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Manama summit is set to address a range of issues related to Arab joint action in political, economic, social, cultural, and security dimensions, along with cooperation between Arab countries and other regional blocs.
The event agenda includes discussions on the Palestinian issue, regional security, and the situation in several member states.
