M’diq- Tamuda Bay Eco Triathlon (TBET) kicked off its exhilarating journey today in the coastal city of M’diq, igniting a fusion of athleticism and environmental consciousness.
The inaugural moments unfolded with the opening of the TBET village, a hub where partners, sponsors, and local artisans converged to showcase their goods and celebrate a shared commitment to sustainability.
The TBET village came alive with the vibrant energy of athletes and enthusiasts, setting the stage for an extraordinary convergence of sportsmanship and environmental awareness against the serene backdrop of Tamuda Bay.
It also provided a platform for local artisans and cooperatives to exhibit their exquisite creations, adding a touch of cultural richness to the event.

The inauguration of the village marked not only the commencement of festivities but also served as a pivotal moment for participating athletes as they eagerly gathered to obtain their competition bib numbers, a symbolic rite of passage signifying their official entry into the highly anticipated 80 km triathlon experience.
The triathlon day promises several activities for both athletes and attendees, beginning promptly at 7 AM with the commencement of the 80 km experience and the Jbala triathlon.

The organizers of this year’s Tamuda Bay Eco Triathlon anticipate welcoming over 800 participants from more than 20 different countries.

In an interview with Morocco World News during a press conference on May 2, they emphasized that this year’s event would well go beyond a mere sports competition; they described it as a “beacon” of environmental commitment and sustainable development.
The essence of the Tamuda Bay Eco Triathlon lies in its ecological and sustainable approach to sporting endeavors, centering on three core disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running, he said.
The triathlon is recognized as the top event of its kind in Africa and ranks among the top ten in the Mediterranean.
