Rabat – Swedish group Trelleborg, specializing in the manufacturing of sealing systems for the aerospace sector, is set to establish a new industrial unit at Midparc near Casablanca.
According to a press release, Trelleborg signed the agreement on Monday with the industrial platform on Tuesday. The project, which will require an investment of €11 million, will be established on an area of 7,800 square meters of land, including 5,100 square meters of buildings.
The plant seeks to offer between 150 and 200 direct jobs, the Ministry of Industry said on Monday.
Morocco’s Minister of Industry Ryad Mezzour stressed the importance of the project, emphasizing that this marks the first time a Swedish investor specializing in the manufacturing of stealing systems for the aerospace sector is establishing itself in Morocco.
He said that the project is set to contribute to strengthening Morocco’s industrial competitiveness while promoting significant local integration.
Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, the president of Midparc also expressed satisfaction with the project, and welcomed the Trelleborg group to the industrial platform.
“The trelleborg group brings us ‘differentiating technologies’ in polymer techniques,” Brahim El Andaloussi said, adding that this will protect aerospace equipment, and engine equipment among others to ensure aircraft safety and durability.
Trelleborg Aerspace’s commercial unit president Grodon Roper also commented on the agreement, stressing that this project reflects the company’s interest in contributing to Morocco’s aerospace infrastructure.
Morocco’s aeronautic industry is experiencing a strong upswing, motivated by companies’ interest in investing in the sector.
Several reports have emphasized the potential of Morocco’s aerospace sector. Last year, Forbes said that Morocco is “well-positioned” to become a leader in aerospace manufacturing, maintenance and operations.
