Rabat – Despite a steadily growing international outrage about the tragedy unfolding in Gaza, the death toll keeps rising and is now said to have reached 35,000 as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continue their merciless targeting of civilians.

In its updated casualty list published today, the Gaza Health Ministry indicated that the number of casualties currently stands at 34,622 killed and 77,867 injured since Israel launched its murderous Gaza campaign.

The majority of the victims are children and women, the list shows.

According to the Palestinian ministry,  26 of the victims on the updated list were killed in the past 24 hour period, while 51 others were injured.

The Palestinian news agency, Wafa, also reported today that ambulance and rescue teams are unable to reach any victims and dead bodies trapped under the debris across the enclave

In particular, the news agency said that the IOF continues to obstruct the movement of ambulance and civil defense teams.

Alarmingly, Israel has repeatedly vowed in the past few days to invade Rafah, home to 1.5 million displaced Palestinians, regardless of Hamas’s response to the latest hostage negotiation deal.

This comes as reports by various UN agencies have consistently warned against any move that would further escalate the  already fragile situation in war-torn Gaza.

Earlier today, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that any Israeli operation in Rafah “could lead to a slaughter.”

The situation in Gaza is already beyond tragic, with only 12 out of 36 hospitals operating in the war-torn Palestinian enclave.

“Any ground operation would mean more suffering and death” for the 1.2 million displaced Palestinians sheltering in and around the Strip’s southernmost city, OCHA spokesperson Jens Laerke told journalists at a press briefing in Geneva.
