Rabat – In a notable feat for Moroccan judo, Soumiya Iraoui and Abderrahmane Boushita have clinched their spots for the forthcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) revealed this news on Thursday, June 26.

Soumiya Iraoui, a prominent figure in the 52kg category, will be making her second Olympic appearance following her participation in Tokyo 2020.

She earned a silver medal at the 2019 African Games and six medals at the African Judo Championships, including three golds.

Her path to qualifying for Paris 2024 was marked by consistent performances on the international circuit, accumulating sufficient points to place among the top 17 judokas in her weight category.

Iraoui remains an important figure in Moroccan judo and is poised to showcase her skills on the global stage once again.

Abderrahmane Boushita, on the other hand, will be making his Olympic debut in France this year.

Competing in the 66kg category, Boushita secured his spot through the continental quota, highlighting his growing stature within African judo.

During the 2021 African Judo Championships in Dakar, Boushita claimed a bronze medal in his category.

Ranked 28th globally in his weight category and among Africa’s top 22, Boushita’s path to Paris 2024 highlights his dedication and burgeoning talent in the world of sports.
