Rabat,  – The “Bayt Al-Maqdis” Research and Studies Center was officially inaugurated on Monday at the headquarters of the Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif Agency in Rabat. The center aims to enhance and promote research on the history of Jerusalem (Al-Quds) and the Palestinian cause.

The event saw the attendance of a Palestinian delegation, the Moroccan Minister of Culture Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and distinguished Moroccan and Palestinian personalities.

In his address at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Bensaid said that the center is set to promote scientific research and academic initiatives, with the aim of fostering a closer relationship between Morocco and Palestine in research and academia.

“The visit of the Palestinian delegation is an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries,” Bensaid said. He highlighted the solidarity between the two brotherly peoples, especially given the difficult circumstances Palestinians are currently facing amid Israel’s war on Gaza.

He affirmed his ministry’s readiness to promote cooperation with Palestinians to bridge cultures, exchange experiences among youth of the two countries, and provide Palestine with expertise in communication and media.

Palestinian Minister for Jerusalem Affairs, Ashraf Al-Aawar, noted that the inauguration of the Bayt Al-Maqdis Center aligns with the directives of King Mohammed VI and the efforts made by the Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif Agency.

Al-Awar noted that this initiative is crucial for promoting studies related to Jerusalem and its residents.

Also speaking at the inauguration, Jamal Choubki, the Palestinian Ambassador to Rabat, underlined that the center reflects the Agency’s dedicated efforts, which now focuses on various aspects of Jerusalem affairs, including economic, social, educational, and health sectors.

“The Bayt Al-Maqdis Research and Studies Center will bolster Morocco’s position and its positive intervention in strengthening the resistance of the Palestinian people against occupation,” Choubki remarked.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, the managing director of the Bayt Mal Al Qods Acharif Agency, highlighted the agency’s efforts in preserving the cultural heritage of Jerusalem. In addition, he outlined the center’s key objectives of promoting research and studies and managing student work, particularly in the preservation of Jerusalem’s heritage.
