Netherlands vs Austria: Euro 2024 Match Preview and Prediction

Rabat – As the UEFA Euro 2024 Group D campaign concludes, all eyes turn to the Olympiastadion in Berlin where the Netherlands will face Austria in Matchday 3. The game will kick off at 5 pm GMT+1, and both teams are poised to secure a top position in the group with a win.

Fans can follow the build-up and live coverage of the match through UEFA’s broadcast partners. Those in the MENA region can watch the game live on beIN Sports.

The Netherlands come into this match following a hard-fought draw against France and a win against Poland. As reported on the UEFA website, despite their unbeaten start, coach Ronald Koeman stressed the need for continued growth and focus.

Austria, having recovered from a narrow loss to France by convincingly defeating Poland 3-1, are riding high on confidence. Coach Marko Arnautović has highlighted their strong team spirit which aims to break their losing streak against the Dutch.

Sports journalist Derek Brookman said that the Dutch, despite a tough draw against France, are optimistic about facing Austria. “But the Netherlands have won the last seven meetings between the countries, and will feel confident of picking up at least the one point required to finish in the top two,” he added to the press.

Meanwhile, sports journalist James Thorogood said that Austria, which are considered “dark horses,” are thriving under coach Ralf Rangnick’s leadership. He noted that their recent performances have elevated expectations, and they are keen to avoid a third-place finish.

Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman stressed the need to stay focused and concentrated. “We know that it will be a tough match because you can’t underestimate Austria, especially in the way they put you under pressure.”

For his part, Austria coach Ralf Rangnick said that his team is “fully prepared” to take on today’s challenge. “The Dutch style is creative and possession-focused, but if we can play at our highest level, win balls in their half, and dominate second balls, we can match them.”

Given the form and quality of both teams, this match is expected to be tightly contested. The Netherlands’ superior record and experience might give them a slight edge, but Austria’s determination and recent form could lead to a surprise result.

Prediction website Opta Analyst forecasts that the Netherlands has a 46.1% of winning the game, with Austria having a 25.8% chance of emerging victorious.
