Morocco’s CDG Capital Warns of Fraudulent Investment Ads Using Its Identity

Casablanca – CDG Capital has warned the public about fraudulent posts circulating on social media that use the company’s name, logo, and visual identity without authorization.

The posts promote what they describe as a “free stock market training” and encourage users to click on links to register or apply. CDG Capital said it has no connection to the initiative and is not behind the accounts, pages, individuals, or organizations involved.

A similar case was reported in November 2025, when Attijariwafa bank warned that a fraudulent video was using the image, name and voice of its CEO to promote a fake investment platform. The video imitated the format of a national news report and used AI-generated elements to appear credible. The bank denied any connection to the platform and urged the public to remain vigilant.

Moroccan financial authorities continue to flag fraudulent investment offers and unauthorized financial advice circulating online. In a December 2025 warning, Morocco’s Capital Market Authority, AMMC, said it had observed a rise in potentially fraudulent trading platforms, which often present themselves as professional services and promise quick, high returns. In some cases, the platforms also impersonate market professionals to gain investors’ trust.

According to the AMMC, these schemes typically follow a recurring pattern. They begin with misleading advertisements that encourage users to make an initial deposit. The platform then displays fictitious gains, prompting victims to invest more money, before blocking withdrawals and eventually disappearing.

The regulator also warned about investment recommendations shared online and through private messaging groups, which can amount to unauthorized financial advice and, in some cases, could conceal market manipulation schemes such as “pump and dump” operations.

Other cases of institutions being impersonated online include a warning from Morocco’s National Road Safety Agency, NARSA, in April 2026 over a fake website using the agency’s name and visual identity.

The site falsely presented itself as an official NARSA service and appeared designed to collect users’ personal and sensitive information through phishing. In June 2026, the Ministry of Justice also warned about fraudulent messages and a fake website impersonating its official traffic-fine payment service.
