Rabat – Mustapha Baitas, government spokesperson and Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding pioneer schools by 2028. This initiative is a cornerstone of educational reforms aimed at enhancing the quality of national education.
During a press conference following a government council, Baitas highlighted the promising results of evaluations of the new school program. “This structuring program aims to improve the learning process by introducing new teaching approaches,” he said.
The program, which was launched this year, has already made significant strides. It has integrated approximately 626 public schools, benefiting nearly 323,000 students. As the initiative continues to grow, it is expected to expand to 2,000 institutions in the next school year, covering around 30% of primary school students, or approximately 1.3 million children.
The minister also emphasized that the program’s extension phase will unfold gradually until 2028, with a significant milestone being the inclusion of secondary levels from next year. This expansion is part of the government’s long-term vision for quality public education, which is outlined in the 2022-2026 roadmap for a “Quality School for All.”
The roadmap is supported by an agreement with the most representative unions in the education sector, and it includes a draft decree that will establish the criteria and procedures for awarding the prestigious “Pioneer School” distinction.
The “Pioneer Schools” project aims to elevate the quality of basic education, reduce dropout rates, and promote student development by implementing innovative teaching strategies.
