Regional Baccalaureate Exams Kick Off with New Digital Systems

Marrakech – The ordinary session of the standardized regional exams for the first year of baccalaureate began this morning across various regions of Morocco. The exams are being held for both attending and independent candidates in all streams.

The catch-up session will take place on July 3 and 4 for all streams.

Deliberations for the regional exam in the first year of the baccalaureate cycle will be held immediately after the catch-up sessions and before signing the exit reports.

This year’s baccalaureate exams will see new developments in terms of organization. For each subject and exam room, an envelope will be allocated containing the topics according to the number of candidates.

The Ministry of Education has emphasized that the number of candidates in each room should not exceed 20, and that all envelopes must be sealed after inserting the electronic coding labels.

According to the Ministry, invigilators will affix electronic QR coding labels to candidates’ answer sheets in the designated space inside the exam room. These labels must be correctly placed and cannot be moved or removed once affixed, as they will lose functionality.

It will also be mandatory to extract the table label and attendance record for each exam subject through the “sage-centre” exam center management system. The attendance record, identified by its electronic code for each subject, is an essential document for accurately completing the confidential electronic numbering.

The confidential electronic coding process in the exam rooms involves scanning the code of the attendance record, the confidence code on the candidates’ table label, as well as the code affixed to each candidate’s exam paper.

These digital methods and techniques used in organizing the exams are also being utilized in the marking and recording of grades. The Ministry has instructed teachers marking exams to scan the answer sheet’s electronic code and enter the grade using the device’s keypad.

During marking, examiners won’t need to input student information. They will simply scan the code, enter the grade, and confirm it, and it then be directly recorded for the student. Marking centers will be provided with electronic tablets to carry out the grade entry process.

The national exam for all streams will be scheduled daily between June 10-13 this year.
