Rabat – Several provinces in Morocco are set to experience severe weather conditions including thunderstorms, strong winds, and high temperatures, according to a new weather alert from the General Directorate of Meteorology.
Thunderstorms are expected to hit the Rif, Middle Atlas, and Saiss regions, with a chance of hail.
The weather conditions may extend to the northwestern areas, the Mediterranean coast, and the northeastern parts of the country.
High Atlas Mountains, the western adjacent plains, and the Phosphate Plateau and Oulmes may also see rainfall.
Despite the storms in the north, the southern regions, including the southern Rif, Saiss, Middle Atlas, and eastern and southeastern areas, will experience relatively hot to locally hot temperatures.
Coastal areas between Tiznit and Tarfaya will have light rain and fog during the night and early morning. Dust is expected to disperse in the southeast and eastern Atlas regions.
Strong winds are forecasted for the High and Middle Atlas, southeast, Saiss, eastern region, and Rif, including Tangier and the southern coasts.
Minimum temperatures will range from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius in the southeast, 22 to 27 degrees Celcius in the eastern region, Rif, and far south, and 16 to 23 Celsius elsewhere. Maximum temperatures will decrease in central areas and southern provinces but rise elsewhere.
