Marrakech – In a touching display of compassion, King Mohammed VI has responded to the emotional plea of a Moroccan couple, offering to cover the costs of cancer treatment abroad for the husband, Hicham, who is battling lymphoma.

Khadija Assadiki, Hicham’s wife and a well-known social media influencer, shared the news in a video on her Instagram account.

“I am in front of the hospital, and I have joyful news to share with you,” she said, holding back tears. “God bless our King, he has answered our call. I will no longer shed tears; this is a mercy from God. His Majesty will cover Hicham’s treatment abroad.”

She added that Hicham’s case is a beacon of hope for all cancer patients, then asked her followers to raise their hands in prayer to God to facilitate matters.

The King’s response comes 10 days after Hicham posted a video on his wife’s account, appealing for the monarch’s intervention to facilitate his travel and treatment outside of Morocco.

Hicham, who has been battling the disease since 2021, explained that doctors at his current hospital and other medical centers in the country agreed that the necessary treatment is not available in Morocco and that he needs to seek medical care abroad.

In previous videos, Khadija had mentioned that the treatment would cost about MAD 7,000,000 ($700,000).

Khadija gained widespread popularity on social media for her unwavering support and dedication to her husband throughout his ordeal. The couple’s story has touched the hearts of many Moroccans, who have been following their journey closely.
