Marrakech – According to data from the Brazilian statistics agency, Morocco has risen to become the third largest supplier of fertilizers to Brazil, as reported by the Russian media outlet RIA Novosti.
In June 2023, Morocco’s fertilizer exports to Brazil surged by 2.3 times compared to the previous year, reaching a value of $147 million.
Russia maintained its position as the leading fertilizer exporter to Brazil, with sales increasing by 18% year-on-year to $338 million in June.
Canada secured the second spot, expanding its exports by 19% to $184 million. China and Egypt rounded out the top five, with exports valued at $127 million and $80 million, respectively.
Morocco’s substantial growth in fertilizer exports to Brazil can be attributed to its status as a top global producer.
According to a report published by The Conversation, Morocco possesses over 70% of the world’s phosphate rock reserves, the key raw material used in the production of phosphorus fertilizers.
This abundance of resources, combined with significant investments in fertilizer production capacity, has enabled Morocco to become a major player in the international fertilizer market.
