Rabat – Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) killed 29 Palestinians in the past 24 hours, including five journalists.
The Gaza government’s media office identified the slain journalists as Amjad Jahjouh and Rizq Abu Ashkian of the Palestine Media Agency, Wafa Abu Dabaan of the Islamic University Radio in Gaza, and Saadi Madoukh and Ahmed Sukkar of Deep Shot Media Production Company.
These deaths bring to 158 the total number of journalists killed since the onset of the IOF’s merciless war on Gaza.
The war toll continues to mount, with recent IOF airstrikes targeting various locations across Gaza. One of these strikes hit the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) warehouses north of the Maghazi camp in central Gaza, killing two individuals, including a UNRWA employee.
Sanad, Al Jazeera’s fact-checking agency, verified video footage showing the bodies and injured being transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah. The UNRWA employee was clearly identifiable by his jacket, marking him as part of the humanitarian agency’s staff.
Since October 7, the Health Ministry in Gaza reports that at least 38,098 Palestinians have been killed, with another 87,705 injured in IOF aggression on Gaza.
The past 48 hours alone have seen at least 87 deaths, reflecting the severe and ongoing impact of the conflict on Gaza’s civilian population.
The killing of journalists highlights the extreme risks faced by those documenting and responding to the catastrophe. Their death not only represents a loss of life but also a critical blow to the free flow of information from the war zone.
