Rabat – Raja Casablanca has a new leader, at least for the time being. The Moroccan football club announced on Friday evening that Adel Hala, the club’s vice-president, will assume the role of president following the arrest of Mohamed Boudrika.
Boudrika was apprehended by German authorities on July 16th based on an international arrest warrant issued by Morocco. He was reportedly on his way to Germany to meet with head coach Josef Zinnbauer to discuss the upcoming season.
In a press release, Raja Casablanca emphasized that the appointment of Hala is a temporary measure to ensure the club’s smooth operation.
The decision adheres to Article 23 of the club’s bylaws, which stipulates that the first vice-president takes over presidential duties in case of a vacancy.
This arrangement will remain in place until the next general meeting, at which point a new board of directors will be elected.
The sudden leadership change adds another layer of uncertainty to Raja Casablanca’s offseason. Boudrika’s arrest has cast a shadow over the club, and it remains unclear when or if he will return to his position.
With the new season approaching, Hala will have his hands full navigating the team through this period of transition, both on and off the field.
