Rabat- The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has announced that the final match of the 2023-2022 Throne Cup tournament will take place on Monday, July 1st, at Agadir’s Grand Stadium.
The exact timing of the game will be announced soon.
The game will feature an anticipated showdown between league champion Raja Club Athletic (RCA) and runner-up AS FAR, two prominent teams in Moroccan football with rich histories and passionate fan bases.
AS FAR secured their place in the final with a commanding 2-0 victory over Maghreb Fez (MAS), while Raja Club Athletic earned their spot after a hard-fought 4-3 win against Mouloudia Oujda. The match was tightly contested, ending 2-2 after regular time and culminating in a gripping extra time showdown.
Josef Zinnbauer, head coach of Raja AC, discussed the upcoming Throne Cup final, highlighting AS FAR and their coach as their toughest opponents this season. “We’re up against our toughest opponent this season. I admire this team and its coach, but just as we didn’t give up in the Botola championship, we will fight in the final,” Zinnbauer stated, according to Al Botola.
Whoever wins the final automatically qualifies for the CAF Confederations Cup, however, that is irrelevant this year, as both teams have already qualified for Africa’s top international tournaments due to their league finish.
This final is set to be a showcase of athleticism and strategic prowess as both teams compete for the prestigious Throne Cup title.
Football enthusiasts and supporters are eagerly anticipating the outcome of this exhilarating match, which will take place at the iconic Grand Stadium in Agadir.
