Rabat – Mohamed Boudrika, the former Raja Casablanca President, reportedly did not know he was the subject of an arrest warrant by Interpol.
Family sources claimed that Boudrika “wouldn’t have traveled to Germany” if he had been aware of the warrant
However, judicial sources quoted by Le360 suggested that the arrest warrant against Boudrika has been in effect for at least six months.
Boudrika is currently in a detention center near Hamburg airport.
“German judicial authorities have agreed to provide him with a local SIM card so he can stay in touch with his family,” the news outlet added.
The same source added that Boudrika is wanted for forgery and use of false documents related to his real estate companies.
Moroccan authorities have already requested the extradition of the former Raja President.
Boudrika’s arrest made local headlines earlier this month, with his family relatives initially denying the news.
One July 17, Le360 quoted Boudrika’s son as saying that his father’s arrest was a “pure life.”
“He is currently sleeping and I am with him in the room,” he claimed.
The wife of Raja Casablanca’s President also denied the media reports, saying that she also learned of her husband’s alleged arrest from media reports and had no idea how they received that information.
Last week, the Moroccan football club announced that Adel Hala, the club’s vice-president, will assume the role of president following the arrest of Mohamed Boudrika.
