Rabat – Morocco has launched this week a national campaign to attract its diaspora members to benefit from a direct housing aid program and various housing services.
The Ministry of National Territorial Planning launched the campaign under the theme “Urban Planning and Housing at the Service of Moroccans Around the World.”
The campaign includes a series of measures to inform Moroccans residing abroad about the latest projects and programs in the urban planning and housing sector that they can benefit from.
The services include the national direct housing aid program as well as exceptional offers from infrastructure companies like Al Omran Group.
“During this national campaign, we are mobilized through all the components of the ministry to listen to the MREs [Moroccans residing abroad] and offer them personalized support and technical and administrative assistance to accelerate the processing of their files in the best conditions and time frames,” Minister of Urban Planning Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri said.
The ministry also seeks to introduce the diaspora to the multiple services the direct house aid program offers and the investment opportunities Morocco has to offer. The campaign’s overreaching goal is to strengthen the attachment of Moroccan diaspora members to their homeland.
Under the campaign, a mobile caravan will tour 23 cities. Reception areas will be set up at border points.
Open house day campaigns will also be organized to welcome diaspora members at the Urban Agencies and Al Omrane companies to answer MRE’s questions.
Moroccans residing abroad account for 21% of the applications recorded via the digital platform of the direst housing aid program, and 23% of the beneficiaries as of July 23.
Morocco’s Direct Housing Aid Program seeks to make housing more accessible for Moroccans both within and outside the country by providing direct subsidies to first-time homeowners.
The aid also aims to reduce the housing deficit, stimulate economic growth in the housing sector, and enable small and medium-sized enterprises to engage in state-subsidized initiatives.
Earlier this month, data from the territorial planning ministry said that the direct housing aid program helped 16,3000 people.
The value of the acquired housing amounts to MAD 6.3 billion, or $633 million, ministry data shows.
MREs bought homes valued at MAD 1.6 billion, or $160.7 million through the direct housing program in the first seven months of 2024
