Last month, the Rwandan embassy in Morocco hosted an event to mark the 30th anniversary of Rwanda’s Liberation Day, celebrating the nation’s transition from tragedy to triumph.
Known as Kwibohora, this occasion commemorates the end of the Rwandan Genocide on July 4, 1994. Rwanda’s ambassador to Morocco, Shakilla K. Umutoni commented on the occasion in an interview with Morocco World News, in which she emphasized the significance of Kwibohora and applauded the strengthened bilateral relations between Rwanda and Morocco.
These ties have been notably bolstered since the high-level visits of President Kagame and King Mohammed VI in 2016, as well as through the pivotal inaugurations of the Rwandan embassy in Morocco in 2020 and the Moroccan embassy in Rwanda in 2017.
