Rabat – Egyptian club Al Ahly has officially signed Moroccan left-back Yahya Attiat-Allah from Russian club FC Sochi on a season-long loan with an option to purchase.
The announcement was made by Amir Tawfik, the Director of Contracts and Executive Director of Al Ahly Football Company, on Friday, confirming that all administrative and financial formalities have been completed.
This signing fulfills a key demand by Al Ahly’s head coach Marcel Koller, who has been seeking reinforcement for the left-back position following the injury of Ali Maaloul.
Maaloul underwent surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon in May and is expected to be out of action until November. Attiat-Allah’s arrival is seen as a critical move to bolster the team’s defense during Maaloul’s recovery period.
The Moroccan defender, who has previously played for Wydad AC, brings valuable experience to Al Ahly as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
Born in 1995 in Safi, Attiyat-Allah began his career with Olympic Safi, before moving to Europe to play for the Greek team Volos.
He later returned to Morocco to join Wydad AC, where he became a key player, helping the team secure multiple titles, including the Botola Pro and the CAF Champions League.
Attiyat Allah has been a regular fixture in Morocco’s national teams, progressing from youth levels to the senior squad. He was part of the Morocco squad for the 2022 World Cup, where he played a significant role, notably providing an assist in the historic quarter-final victory against Portugal.
His consistent performances at both the club and international levels have earned him recognition, including a nomination for the 2023 CAF Interclub Player of the Year.
