Marrakech – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has announced plans to launch a new football academy in Casablanca, Morocco, set to open its doors in September 2024.

The PSG Academy in Casablanca aims to bring the club’s renowned training methodology to young Moroccan footballers, further strengthening the sporting ties between PSG and Morocco.

The academy will be located in Tamaris and will feature a full-size 11-a-side pitch, as well as smaller 5-a-side, 7-a-side, and 9-a-side pitches.

The state-of-the-art facility will cater to boys and girls aged 4 to 18, offering top-quality training and amenities such as a café and three padel courts.

The project’s local development will be led by Daoud Boulanger, an experienced French trainer with a strong background in Moroccan football.

Boulanger, who has worked as a UEFA and CAF instructor and has held positions at various clubs, expressed his enthusiasm for the project.

In an official statement by the club website, he stated, “It is a great honor to offer a project of this quality to Moroccan youth.”

“Sharing the culture of French training with these young football enthusiasts is a source of immense pride,” he added.

PSG’s decision to establish an academy in Casablanca is driven by the club’s significant fan base in Morocco and the wider region.

With 4.9 million Moroccan followers on social media, a number bolstered by the presence of star defender Achraf Hakimi, the country ranks as PSG’s 10th largest supporter base.

In total, the club boasts 18.6 million fans in the region, accounting for 12% of its global following of 214 million.

Nadia Benmokhtar, Head of Brand Development at PSG, emphasized the club’s commitment to youth training excellence.

“We are incredibly proud to expand PSG Academy to Morocco. This initiative underscores our commitment to youth training excellence,” she said.

“It allows us to connect more closely with our passionate supporters in this football-loving country, offering them an unforgettable experience aligned with their enthusiasm for PSG.”

Looking to the future, PSG Academy plans to expand its presence in Morocco, potentially opening additional centers or programs to establish the club as a leading force in youth development on a global scale.
