Rabat – Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Chairman of French club Paris Saint-Germain has visited Moroco’s Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale, near Rabat to express his support for the country’s relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that killed nearly 3,000 people in the Al Haouz region on September 8.

According to beIN Sports, Al-Khelaifi received “ a warm welcome” from the President of Morocco’s Royal Football Federation Fouzi Lekjaa upon his arrival.

Lkejaa and Al Khelaifi also discussed “several issues concerning the relationship between the two parties,” the sports news network added.

Following the meeting, El Khelaifi spoke to the press, stressing that he is present in Morocco, which he called “his second country,” to express his and PSG’s solidarity with “our brothers and people in Morocco.”

“We hope that you are well and safe. We are with you forever,” the PSG president said.

Morocco has been receiving international support following the devastating earthquake, including from football clubs and federations.

A list of countries, including Qatar, also sent humanitarian aid to help the North African country’s relief efforts.

As part of their aid efforts, Qatar along with Spain, the UK, and the UAE also sent rescue teams to cooperate with Moroccan authorities to rescue the affected people.

King Mohammed VI has sent several messages of thanks to all countries that contributed to Morocco’s earthquake response as well as to rescue teams, conveying his and Moroccans’ gratitude for the strong support and solidarity they displayed throughout the tragedy.

The earthquake has also left over 5,500 people injured, with experts describing it as the deadliest and strongest earthquake to hit the country in 120 years.
