Marrakech – As Morocco celebrated the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne, Spanish leaders from various sectors extended their congratulations and praised the country’s development under the monarch’s leadership.
In a message to King Mohammed VI, King Felipe VI of Spain expressed his warmest congratulations on behalf of the Spanish government and people.
“Convinced that the distinguished relationship that unites Spain and Morocco will continue to strengthen in the future, I express wishes for the prosperity and happiness of the dear Moroccan people,” the Spanish monarch wrote.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also sent a congratulatory message, highlighting the neighborly ties and friendship between the two nations.
“Morocco is one of Spain’s closest and most important partners,” Sanchez noted. “We must continue to work towards building a more fruitful association for the benefit of both peoples, for peace, stability, and prosperity in the entire Mediterranean region.”
Former Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero commended Morocco’s remarkable progress since King Mohammed VI’s accession. “Morocco has made giant strides on the path of progress, becoming an open-air construction site of development and modernization,” Zapatero stated.
He emphasized the country’s advancements in political pluralism, economic growth, and social development, which have earned Morocco credibility within the international community.
Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska underscored King Mohammed VI’s commitment to Morocco’s development and progress. “This emblematic event celebrates not only the anniversary of His Majesty’s enthronement but also the Kingdom of Morocco’s advancements under his enlightened leadership,” Grande-Marlaska said.
He further praised the Moroccan community in Spain, numbering over one million, as an example of successful integration and as a vital force in strengthening bilateral relations.
Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Luis Planas echoed the sentiment, saluting the sustained development of Moroccan-Spanish relations under King Mohammed VI’s leadership.
“The 25 years of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s reign are as much a celebration for the Moroccan people as a commemoration of the solidity of the relations uniting Morocco and Spain,” Planas declared.
He highlighted the positive impact of improved bilateral ties on the development of both countries and the African and European continents.
As Spain and Morocco continue to deepen their strategic partnership, the two kingdoms are poised to benefit from increased cooperation in various key sectors, including renewable energy, maritime affairs, construction, trade, agriculture, banking, and industry, as well as the expansion of social, educational, and cultural contacts.
