Rabat- Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports has revealed that more than 8 million and 112 thousand students are set to enroll in educational institutions for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year.
Public schools are anticipated to accommodate approximately 6 million and 976 thousand students. Enrollment figures indicate a 1.3% decrease in primary education, with nearly 3 million and 716 thousand students expected.
Middle school enrollment is meanwhile projected to rise by 5.5%, reaching about 2 million and 25 thousand students. High school enrollment is expected to grow by 12.7%, totaling around 1 million and 235 thousand students.
The ministry has also projected that over 1 million and 813 thousand new students will join public education this year. This includes approximately 585 thousand students starting in the first year of primary education, 625 thousand in the first year of middle school, and 453 thousand in the common core of high school.
In line with its strategy to enhance early childhood education, particularly in rural areas, the Ministry has reported that approximately 984 thousand children will enroll in preschool for the 2024/2025 academic year.
This includes about 642 thousand children in public preschool programs.
Morocco’s 2024-2025 school year is set to officially begin on September 9, according to the Ministry of National Education.
