A joint Interpol operation involving 14 countries, including Morocco, has enabled security services to arrest 66 suspects.

Under the codename of “Neptune VI,” the operation also allowed significant seizures and the identification of 81 people subject to arrest warrants, reports said on Wednesday.

Lasting two weeks, the operation tracked the movements of foreign terrorist fighters and criminal groups involved in transnational crimes like drug trafficking and arms smuggling.

Twelve million data points were scrutinized, leading to the arrest of 12 Interpol-wanted individuals and 54 others for various crimes, alongside significant seizures including 549,000 euros in undeclared cash and large amounts of gold worth 10 million euros.

Police also seized 25 kilograms of cannabis, 35 stolen vehicles, and several firearms and ammunition.

The operation took place as part of cooperation between Interpol and Ftrontex.

A member of Interpol, Morocco has been assisting international partners with intelligence information enabling them to arrest suspects involved in different crimes.

Interpol has in recent years repeatedly emphasized the importance of cooperation with Morocco.

Just this past September, Interpol commended  Morocco’s contribution to international security, touting the country’s participation in over a dozen projects under the auspices of the international police organization.

The organization also highlighted Morocco’s participation in around 20 significant security operations worldwide.

Late last year, the organization announced the unanimous choice of Morocco to host the 93rd General Assembly of Interpol in 2025 in Marrakech.
