Rabat — Alfredo Ribelles Villalba, the director of Valencia’s regional hospital said the humanitarian aid Morocco sent has been of  “great help” to contribute to Spain’s ongoing relief efforts in flood-affected areas.

In a statement, Ribelles commended Morocco’s competence and professionalism, adding that the efforts by Morocco’s operators have been “indispensable” for accelerating the repair of the damaged infrastructure.

Morocco sent two humanitarian convoys to assist Spain following the devastating floods caused by the Dana storm that killed at least 215 people, including Moroccans.

The second Moroccan convoy includes 13 trucks, with 12 fire engines and one repair and tool truck.

This deployment reached Valencia on Saturday.

After the devastating floods, King Mohammed VI instructed the government to send rescue teams and provide all necessary assistance to the European country to address the repercussions of natural disasters.

The first humanitarian aid included 24 fire pump trucks and sent 70 operators, who arrived in Spain on Wednesday to support relief efforts.

Earlier this week, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez thanked Morocco for its support in the relief efforts.

“In these challenging weeks for Spain due to Storm Dana, international and European solidarity has been immense. Personnel from Portugal, France, and Morocco are already in the group supporting Valencia’s recovery efforts. All of Spain thanks you,” he said, noting that his government remains in contact with other friendly allies to coordinate all necessary assistance.

The Spanish Ministry of Interior recognized Morocco’s aid efforts today, saying that the Moroccan assistance contingent is already working in the affected regions.

“The aid contingent from Morocco is already working in the affected areas,” the Ministry of Interior said in a post on X, saying that several trucks are operating in various locations.
