Rabat – The Al Ghassani Regional Hospital in Fez received on Thursday evening 40 women who were suffering from breathing difficulties and symptoms of suffocation.

The incident occurred as the women were working at a textile factory in the city, where they were exposed to a gas leak.

Rachid Ihmouten, Director of the Al Ghassani Regional Hospital, told SNRT News that all the women were treated promptly for respiratory distress caused by gas inhalation.

After receiving immediate medical care, 37 of the affected women were discharged once their conditions had stabilized.

The remaining three cases required extended medical observation due to the severity of their symptoms. However, they were also discharged early this morning after their health improved, Ihmouten added.

The incident has raised questions about workplace safety regulations and the need for more stringent measures to protect workers from potential health hazards.

Social media users urged authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the gas leak to ensure the safety of workers and prevent similar incidents in the future.
