Rabat – The Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Moroccan Society for Tourism Engineering (SMIT), has launched the “Tourism Project Bank” — a digital platform designed to drive investment in the country’s tourism sector, focusing on attracting young investors.

As part of Morocco’s 2023-2026 tourism roadmap, this new project offers a catalog of over 200 model projects designed as adaptable templates for nationwide use, according to the ministry. The platform aims to launch a total of 600 projects, enriching the tourism experience across Morocco’s regions.

Each project entry provides in-depth details, including estimated investment costs, projected revenue, operational profitability, and potential job creation. Investment opportunities range from MAD 100,000 to MAD 10 million ($9,500 to $950,000), appealing to a broad base of investors.

“The Tourism Project Bank complements Morocco’s existing ecosystem of incentive measures. In response to the numerous opportunities in Morocco’s tourism sector, this innovative platform greatly simplifies the investment process,” said Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor, in a recent statement.

The platform allows investors to pinpoint promising projects using filters by region, activity type, and tourism sector. Each project is presented with detailed, ready-to-use briefs, offering a turn-key solution that simplifies evaluating the profitability of each opportunity.

Beyond presenting opportunities, the “Tourism Project Bank” provides comprehensive guidance throughout the investment process. According to the tourism office, it offers end-to-end support—from initial project planning to completion—while facilitating access to state subsidies, streamlining the entrepreneurial journey.

The platform focuses on innovation and sustainability by covering 14 thematic and cross-sectoral areas from the tourism roadmap. It presents engaging tourism experiences including marine excursions (dolphin watching, glass-bottom boat tours, sport fishing), entertainment options (outdoor cinemas, night-time mini-golf), and aerial sports (paragliding, skydiving, helicopter tours).

The project combines authenticity, technology, and sustainable practices, aligning with the goals of a new generation of environmentally-conscious entrepreneurs.

As part of a broader territorial development strategy, this newly birthed project looks to channel investments toward high-potential, profitable ventures. This initiative supports Morocco’s commitment to boosting regional appeal and capitalizing on local tourism assets.

Morocco’s tourism revenue in foreign currency reached a record MAD 17 billion (around $1.74 billion) in August, according to recent data from the Ministry of Tourism. This marked an impressive nearly 20% increase compared to the same month last year.

In August alone, Morocco welcomed 1.8 million tourists, bringing the total to 11.8 million visitors since the beginning of the year, the ministry reported. With these strong figures, Morocco is now aiming to attract over 17.5 million tourists by 2026.
