Rabat – Morocco’s Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) has issued an orange-level alert for hot weather and strong winds with dust storms expected in various regions of the country from Saturday through Monday.

Temperatures are forecasted to reach between 28°C and 33°C in several provinces, including Sidi Bennour, Kenitra, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Sidi Ifni, Tiznit, Benslimane, Berrechid, and Essaouira.

The alert also includes the provinces of Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Rabat, Sale, Skhirate-Temara, El Jadida, and Safi, according to the statement.

On Sunday, strong winds reaching speeds of 75 to 85 kilometers per hour are expected to sweep through the provinces of Guelmim, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Sidi Ifni, Taroudant, Tiznit, Al Haouz, Chichaoua and Essaouira.

These gusts are likely to cause dust storms, reducing visibility and possibly affecting transportation.

Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautions and travelers should remain cautious due to possible disruptions caused by reduced visibility on the roads.

The shift in weather comes after weeks of cold temperatures and significant rainfall in several Moroccan cities.
