Rabat – Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the South Zone, met with the Mauritanian Minister of Defense, Mr. Hanena Ould Sidi, on Friday in Marrakech.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of this year’s Marrakech Air Show, was conducted under the directives of King Mohammed VI.
The two defense officials discussed ways to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries, exploring potential avenues for collaboration in various defense fields.
The meeting highlighted the strong and deep-rooted military ties between Morocco and Mauritania, emphasizing the shared commitment to addressing regional challenges and threats.
A press release from the FAR General Staff noted that both sides reaffirmed their dedication to further solidifying military cooperation and elevating it to new heights.
The two countries have a long-standing military cooperation agreement, which established a Joint Military Commission to oversee and enhance bilateral defense relations.
Major General Mohamed Cheikh Boyda, Chief of Staff of the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, accompanied the Mauritanian Minister of Defense during the visit.
