Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology said in a new weather alert today that strong gusts of wind and dust storms will affect several provinces across the country.

The strong gusts of wind between 75 and 90 kilometers per hour will concern the provinces of Figuig, Jerada, oujda Angad, and Taourirt.

Bouleman and Midelt will also be affected.

Strong gusts of wind between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour will are also expected in mountainous areas above 1,500 meters from Thursday 5 p.m. to Friday 11:50 p.m. in the provinces of Midelt, Azilal, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, and Ouarzazate.

The weather office issued a similar weather alert, forecasting rainfall, dust storms, and strong winds in several provinces, including Figuig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, and Boulmae.

Houcine Youaabed, head of communications at the weather office, said that expreme weather conditions Morocco is set to experience in the next few days are part of broader atmospheric disturbance resulting from a low pressure system forming over Europe.

This latest alert comes as the weather in Morocco continues to witness slight temperature decrease, ranging between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius.

Some days, however, experience unusually hot weather with temperatures between 26 and 27 degrees, which is abnormal for the fall season.
