Royal Air Maroc (RAM) seeks an expansion in the Brazilian market following the resumption of direct flights between Casablanca and Sao Paulo.
On Wednesday, the company said in a statement that it gathered top travel agents in a ceremony held on Tuesday in Sao Paulo.
The event served as an opportunity for the company to introduce its new commercial team in Brazil as well as to strengthen ties with local partners.
Royal Air Maroc also aims to explore prospects for tourism development across the Atlantic.
Othman Baba, the company’s regional representative in Brazil and Latin America said the meeting involved the top 30 accredited travel coordinators of the company with the aim of promoting the momentum of the strategic ties with Brazil.
“Bookings are increasing, and seats are fully booked for several weeks ahead, both ways,” he said, noting that this would encourage Royal Air Maroc to schedule more flights in the medium term.
He said travel coordinators are key partners who offer a range of services, including flights, accommodation, and tours.
Each coordinator typically represents between 2,000 and 3,000 travel agencies.
Wagner Chavez, head of the travel coordinator agency Sakura said that the agency has been a partner for Royal Air Maroc for years.
“Morocco is a wonderful country with its culture, people, and traditions, making it an exceptional destination,” he said, commending Royal Air Maroc’s return to the Brazilian market.
Marrakech and Agadir are at the top of the demand list in terms of Morocco’s attractive destinations, Royal Air Maroc’s representative noted.
“We’ve also seen increasing interest in historic cities, such as Rabat, Fez, and Essaouira. Brazilians are showing great interest in southern eastern Morocco, particularly destinations like Ouarzazate, Zagora, and Errachidia, where they seek a unique desert experience,” the representative added.
Royal Air Maroc resumed direct flights between Casablanca and Sao Paulo after a five year hiatus caused by COVID-19.
