Rabat – Morocco has allocated close to 18,000 hectares of public land for development projects in 2024.
Speaking at the House of Councillors on Tuesday, Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah announced that this initiative is set to facilitate 152 projects with a combined value of nearly MAD 19 billion ($1.0 billion).
The land allocations go hand in hand with Morocco’s strategic priorities, with 15,000 hectares dedicated to energy projects to advance the country’s renewable energy goals. Tourism, a key economic sector, received 84 hectares, while 56 hectares were allocated to handicrafts to support the preservation of cultural and economic heritage.
Another 64 hectares were reserved for housing to meet growing urbanization demands.
Fettah underlined the government’s focus on balanced development, with over 1,000 hectares directed toward agriculture and 322 hectares set aside for public administrations.
These allocations are intended to drive progress in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, all essential for sustainable growth.
The minister also announced the issuance of land titles for about 349,000 hectares, a key step in securing and regulating state-owned land assets. This initiative is expected to improve transparency and establish a more stable environment for future investments.
Fettah noted the importance of focusing on territorial equity in investment planning, in line with the principles of Morocco’s Investment Charter.
She affirmed that ensuring fair distribution of development opportunities across regions is crucial for promoting inclusive growth.
Through strategic land allocation and a sturdy legal framework, Morocco continues to boost its position as a competitive investment destination while addressing essential national priorities.
